![]() Cary Elwes played the eponymous Bard with a consistent wink and the action was challenging in a way isometric action/RPGs tend to avoid. Being an overhead hack and slash with voice acting and humor, it had little to do with the original creation. That’s why InXile’s 2004 reboot was confounding to the existing fans. The ’80s trilogy was a favorite of PC gamers in the know, with complex role playing, deep dungeon-crawling mechanics and a flexible construction set that allowed fans to follow up on the originals with their own creations. Note: You must enter Neversdale before you complete Mountain Pass in Chapter 6 or it will become inaccessible.The dungeon crawler series The Bard’s Tale is one with a storied history. Enter it to unlock the achievement for Chapter 1. The sheriff will ask you to retrieve him from Neversdale, unlocking that location on the map. To unlock this location, you must keep Swart alive in the Houton Forest section of the game and he will escape when you return to town. This achievement unlocks when you enter Neversdale Forest. The majority of the chapter achievements can't be missed, but I'll note when they are. If you look at the order of the chapters, you'll want to enter each area in succession. Rather than making the achievement for that location missable, it makes the achievement for the area prior to that location missable. However, you can actually skip two of the locations because there is nothing story-related in them. They all unlock when you enter the "next" town in the progression of the game. The chapter achievements in this game are extremely strange. ![]() It's a funny story with simple gameplay, and the achievements are extremely easy if you follow a guide and use the cheat commands - though even without the cheats, it's not too hard if you take your time in combat. Obviously with Xbox now owning inXile Entertainment, they wanted their entire library on Xbox, which is a great thing. It's a port of a game released three years ago, which in turn is a remaster of a game that came out in 2004. Also turn on Invincibility and Damage x100 to kill the boss and get your completion! In this case, start a new game on Olde School difficulty and use the level select cheat to warp to "DT_TowerTop" which is the final battle of the game. ![]() If you chose to do Step 1b on Easy, you should only have the final two difficulty-related achievements left. If you somehow missed anything, use the level select cheat to return to any area you might be locked out of and complete what you need. If you chose to do Step 1a, you should already have your 1000. ![]() Still follow along with the achievement walkthrough so you don't miss anything! The other option you could do would be to complete the entire game on Easy (or even Olde School) and actually play it properly, not using the cheats. When you get to the final boss, make sure you select one of the first two options! If you select the third option, the game's difficulty gets knocked down one level and you won't get credit for Olde School Mode. This speeds the game up considerably, but also makes it more of a walking simulator than an ARPG. With invincibility and damage x100, you don't have to worry about leveling up so you can simply walk past any enemy you aren't required to fight. Also be sure to do the church donation prior to completing Chapter 12.Īs mentioned above, cheats DO NOT disable achievements, so feel free to abuse them if you wish. Your main focus will be completing all of the achievement-related side-quests, collecting all the tokens and songs, and progressing the story in the correct order so you don't miss any chapter achievements. As you play through the game, make sure you follow the achievement walkthrough found here so you don't miss anything. Invincibility (can still be knocked down) -Īll of the difficulty achievements stack, so you can start with Olde School Mode and only play the game once if you'd like. You can use the same method and input to turn off a cheat if necessary (for instance when you are forced to lose a fist fight as part of the story, you can't be invincible). You can activate all of them at will by holding + + + at the same time, then inputting the codes below with the D-Pad while still holding those four buttons.
